Outpost by Ann Aguirre

Author: Ann Aguire
Length: 10 hrs 20 min
Narrator: Emily Bauer

From Goodreads ~

Deuce’s whole world has changed. Down below, she was considered an adult. Now, topside in a town called Salvation, she’s a brat in need of training in the eyes of the townsfolk. She doesn’t fit in with the other girls: Deuce only knows how to fight.

To make matters worse, her Hunter partner, Fade, keeps Deuce at a distance. Her feelings for Fade haven’t changed, but he seems not to want her around anymore. Confused and lonely, she starts looking for a way out.

Deuce signs up to serve in the summer patrols—those who make sure the planters can work the fields without danger. It should be routine, but things have been changing on the surface, just as they did below ground. The Freaks have grown smarter. They’re watching. Waiting. Planning. The monsters don’t intend to let Salvation survive, and it may take a girl like Deuce to turn back the tide.

So, What did I think?

Much better!  I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first book.  Which is odd for a second book in a series for me.  However, this book was more emotional and allowed readers to see deeper into the characters.  I am excited to read the next book whenever it comes out.

Topside is softening Deuce up.  Although she still feels the huntress inside, she is discovering what love means and learning to open up and allow others inside.  I love this side of Deuce!  I am looking forward to reading or listening to more.

If I had a rating system, I would give this book a 4 because I found myself longing to listen to it out of the blue.  Something about it made me keep thinking about it at the oddest of times.  Check it out and see what you think.

    1. Jen! Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. As you can tell, it's been a while since I have posted anything. I plan on starting back up at the beginning of the new year. I plan a lot of new ideas for my blog. This book series is pretty good. I suggest you listening to it if you haven't yet. God Bless!
